powerless
Romans 7:18
For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.
there’s something so liberating about understanding that we are powerless. even in my most tempting situations, i am powerless, and in my most righteous feat, it’s not my power. we, on our own, are 100% completely, utterly, powerless. paul even says that he has a desire to do good, but that desire isn’t enough to carry it out.
yet, this doesn’t mean we have no power. even more liberating, it says 100% of our power comes elsewhere. we’re vessels running on a wall charger with no battery inside of us. 100% of our power comes from a source much greater than ourselves. stop trying to save energy, and stop trying to prolong the battery life. God, our strength and energy, works for us and delivers us to Christ Jesus so that we can be freed from the religion of trying harder.
Romans 7:25
Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!
